Stage Indicator

The stage indicator (sometimes called the checkpoint indicator) is a small arrow that sits above the next checkpoint. It draws through walls so players can recover when a map is vertical, foggy, or easy to lose orientation in.

  • Enabled by default in typical setups
  • Present across WOS versions; refreshed visually in later releases (smoother motion and updated icon around v0.8.3)
  • When there is no next stage (player is at the end), the indicator disappears

Why use it

Difficulty chart and tower maps often hide the next pad behind geometry. The indicator reduces “where do I go?” friction without giving away the whole obstacle line as it points at the next checkpoint, not the optimal route through obstacles.

Tips

  • Keep checkpoint numbering sequential so “next” matches the intended path.
  • If the arrow never appears, confirm checkpoints exist for current + 1 and that StreamingEnabled is off.
  • Pair with the progress bar and stage selector for a complete navigation kit.
